Support Group Meetings

The MGFI Support Groups are listed below and you are welcome at any one of them.  Support groups help new and old patients, their families and friends learn about the disease and about new treatments. Support groups also help MG patients manage the everyday problems of this chronic disease.  They are scheduled throughout the year for your convenience.   If you are planning on attending, please call the chairperson for the group and let them know.

Under 30 Support Group.  We are starting a support group for people under 30.  If you are interested in joining this new group, please call the office at 1-800-888-6208.

bullet NW Indiana Support Group.  Every 2nd Saturday of the month there is a meeting held at Barrington Ridge Baptist Church from 2:00pm-4:00pm. Contact the MGFI office for more information.
bullet Western Suburban (Chicago). Meets at Central Du Page Hospital, Winfield, IL in Room 2 & 3 at 1:30 P.M. Next scheduled meeting is Sunday, September 16, which will discuss Taking Control of MG. Video highlights from the presentation, Taking Control of MG by Dallas A. forshew, RN from the National Meeting will be shown. A group discussion will follow. bullet Peoria. Meetings are held at Proctor Hospital, 5409 N. Knoxville, Peoria, IL 61614 from 2:00 to 4:00pm. The next meeting will be held on Sunday, September 23rd. The next meeting for 2007 is November 11th. For more information call the MGFI main office.
bullet Springfield.  Meetings are held on the 3rd Sunday of each month from 2:00pm-4:00pm at SIU School of Medicine Library in the Dirkson Room. The next meeting will be held on September 16th. For more details, call Jeanne Weatherford-Little 217-787-6242 or Frank at 217-416-3990.
bullet South Suburban (Chicago).  The next meeting will be held on Sunday, July 22 from 1:30pm - 3:30pm at St. Francis Hospital. The topics will be Nutrition/MG crisis. Contact MGFI office for further information.
bullet Orland Park.  Clyda Ford is interested in starting a support group in the Orland Park area. If you are interested in a support group and you are near Orland Park, please contact our Executive Director, Kim LaBounty.
bulletLaSalle County/Peru, IL.  Georgia Ryan is interested in starting a support group. If you are interested in a support group and you are near this area,  contact Georgia at 1-815-223-8311.
bullet North Chicago, IL.  Coming this fall, a new Support Group for the north Chicago, near north suburban area is being formed. This first meeting is Sunday, October 7th at GlenBrook Hospital, 2100 Pfingsten Rd. in Glenview. The meeting is in conference rooms B & C. Enter through the center entrance. Go left down the hallway where you will pass underneath a sign for CT scan. The conference rooms are on your right.
bullet Quad Cities.  Meets on the second Saturday every other month from from 1:00pm-3:00pm at Butterworth Center, 1105 8th Street, Moline, in the Oak Room.  There will not be an August meeting. Next group will be on September 8th. The next meeting date for 2007 is November 10th.  Please respond if you will be attending to group leader Katherine Fuhr.  General contact person Lynn Volker at 309-764-1731
 

Drugs are expensive!! No words could be more true these days. All of the MG drug prices are going up and most others are going up too. The MGFI  does have some help for you.
